COMMISSIONING OF THREE GIFEC COMMUNITY ICT CENTERS

On Wednesday 23rd January 2019, three ICT centers in the Wassa Amenfi West Municipal were commissioned in Samreboi, Asankragwa and Wassa Dunkwa respectively.

The ICT Centers are purposefully meant for the exposure of all category of persons, to basic computer skills acquisition, as well as upgrade. The courses/programmes have been put under 3 broad categories namely, Adults in ICT, School Kids in ICT and Artisans in ICT.

The main event was the Samreboi ICT Center commissioning; the Samreboi ICT Center is a joint project by GIFEC(Ghana Investment Fund for Electronic Communication) and Samartex Timber & Plywood Co.Ltd.

The occasion was graced by the presence of some dignitaries including Hon.George Agyiri MCE Amenfi West, Nananom(chiefs of Samreboi), Richard Nsenkyire(Managing Director - Samartex), Ransford Quaidoo (General Manager - Samartex) and Abraham Kofi Asante (Administrator GIFEC)

The MCE, MD of Samartex and GIFEC Administrator all gave speeches to all present including school kids from various schools in Samreboi, touching on the importance of Information Technology, building a maintenance culture and encouraging patronage of the center. The Late Member of Parliament (John Gyetuah), who was a pioneer to the construction of the ICT center, was acknowledged with a minute’s silence observation.
