The competition was initiated by the Western Regional Minister and sponsored by Goldfields Tarkwa, partnered by Samartex Timber & Plywood Company Limited and featured 8 clubs grouped into 2 zones. 

Zone 1 was led by Karela United and Eleven Wise while Zone 2: Samartex FC emerged winners against Elmina sharks in the final game with a lone goal. Elmina sharks placed 2^nd, qualifying both teams to the semi final stage.

Semi-final stage: Descending into the twin city of Sekondi Takoradi, Samartex played 10 men against premier team Karela United and won with 1 – 0, and qualified to the final stage.

Elmina Sharks also disposed off Eleven Wise via a penalty shooter to set up another encounter with the Timber Giants (Samartex)

In an entertaining final match witnessed by the Regional Minister and other football dignitaries, Samartex defied the Premiership status of Sharks to win the coveted trophy with a clinical 2 - 1 victory. 

The Trophy was displayed to the Samreboi Township and its environment amidst brass band music upon arrival of the players. The trophy was presented to the Omanhene of Wassa Amenfi, Tɛtrɛtɛ Okuamoah Sekyim II by Coah Kobi-Mensah, Team Administrator, P.R.O and Team Captains to climax the appreciation tour.
