FOREST INDUSTRIES ASSOCIATION OF GHANA (FIAG) URGES GOVERNMENT TO TRANSFORM KUMASI WOOD ESTATE LIMITED (KWEL) INTO A VOCATIONAL TRAINING AND SERVICE CENTRE

The Chairman of Forest Industries Association of Ghana (FIAG), Mr Richard Nsenkyire, indicated that a move to transform Kumasi Wood Estate Limited (KWEL) into a vocational training and service centre will help sustain the resource base as well as provide revenue for the sector and other stakeholders.

He further argued that one of the major challenges of all the sectors and institutions which form the FIAG, is the lack of adequate expertise and technical know-how in the industry because most of our training institutions have prioritized theoretical programmes over technical programmes, hence the need for this transformation to build capacity.
