Kwaw Mensah is a village off the Amuaku-Prestea road of 24.99KM from Samreboi, in the Wassa Amenfi West Municipal, Western Region, Ghana. On April 28, 2021, Samartex organized a community outreach programme for the people of Kwaw Mensah, the programme is one of the many initiatives by the Company to support the less privileged communities within the Samreboi catchment.
The outreach programme consisted of 4 medical staff made up of; the Residence Doctor, Ophthalmic nurse, Dispensing Technician and Administrative Assistant and 3 Green Gold FM representatives. The medical officer commenced with a health talk on COVID-19 vaccination as a potential solution to ending the pandemic. To alleviate the fear with regards to misinformation on the vaccine, the people were sensitized on the principles underlining the vaccination such as building natural immunity to the product of the virus.
The people of Kwaw Mensah were also counselled on living a preventive lifestyle to avoid hypertension and diabetes and advised on strict adherence to treatment for those who have been battling with the disease for years. Patients seen summed up to a total of 72; 27 male, 45 female, 16 of them were children (0-12years). Patients were treated for various ailment and medications were administered for free on the spot. Samartex Hospital plans to follow up with another programme on chronic medical conditions and conduct an eye screening for the people of Kwaw Mensah, especially the aged with vision issues.
